Competition Categories
Each pageant consists of 2 required stage competitions: Theme Wear and Formal Wear.
But besides those portions, we also have EXTRA areas of competition, called “Optionals”. There are 2 types of Optionals: Photo and Stage.
Photo Optionals are extra categories that have you submit photos for competition before the pageant. Most Photo optionals have a theme/guideline to follow. You can take these photos with your phone or even have a professional do them, it’s up to you. Be sure to read the theme/guideline for each optional, so you know the best kind of photos to submit. The winners of photo optionals will appear in our full color magazine pageant program and receive an additional reward.
*After signing up for the pageant, you will have an opportunity to submit photos for any Photo Optionals you’ve entered.
Stage Optionals are extra categories that contestants are scored on, during their on-stage Theme Wear and Formal Wear performances. Stage Optional winners will receive an additional award.

Think beautifully decorated Christmas trees, twinkling lights, festive outfits, holiday bows, wrapped presents, cozy Christmas mornings, winter wonderlands, magical Christmas moments, and everything that makes the holiday season unforgettable!
Submit a collection of themed photos showing your contestant celebrating the joy, beauty, and magic of Christmas. Festive outfits, Christmas dresses, holiday pajamas, and creative holiday settings are all welcome. (Please note: Makeup is not allowed in photos)
2 lucky contestants will be featured on the cover or back cover of all our program books on pageant day!

Theme: Picture Perfect Christmas
Whether it's a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, sparkling holiday lights, festive Christmas outfits, Santa inspired fun, or a magical holiday scene, this optional celebrates creativity and everything that makes Tinsel & Tiaras so special.
Props, backgrounds, accessories, and creative Christmas setups are encouraged: just make sure your photo captures the magic of the holiday season!

Theme: Wrapping Paper Wonderland
Show off your cutest themed photos wrapped in holiday fun! Think bows, ribbons, wrapping paper and festive flair: anything that celebrates the joy of giving! Whether you’re the gift or the wrapper: make it merry, bright and oh.so.cute!
What we look for:
- A fun and creative Christmas present theme
- Cute use of wrapping paper, ribbons, bows, or gift boxes
- A sweet, adorable expression

Submit a full body portrait of the contestant dressed in a festive holiday outfit or formal attire. There are no specific style requirements-just let their natural confidence and charm shine!
Winning photos will be featured in the centerfold of the Tinsel & Tiaras Pageant Program!
There are no additional requirements—this optional is all about presenting a clean, confident, full length image.

Most Photogenic
This award is for the contestant whose photo has the strongest overall look.
Photos may be professional or casual but should be clear, bright, and flattering.

All Dressed Up
This award is for the contestant who looks her best in a polished, elegant photo.
Parents should submit a photo of their contestant wearing a formal dress. This may be a pageant gown, Christmas dress, flower girl dress, or any outfit that creates a beautiful, dressed-up look. The dress does not need to be the same one worn at the pageant.

Best Theme Wear
Theme: Holly Jolly Holiday
The contestant with the best outfit in each age group during the Theme Wear portion of the pageant will win this award.
Contestants should wear a fun, festive outfit that celebrates the Christmas season! This may include Christmas dresses, holiday pajamas, Santa or elf-inspired outfits, reindeer costumes, ugly Christmas sweaters, sparkling holiday fashion, or any creative Christmas look.
Judges will look for:

- Age-appropriate styling
- A well-coordinated festive outfit

Best Dressed
The contestant with the best outfit in each age group during the Formal Wear portion of the pageant will win this award.
Contestants should present a beautiful, polished, and age-appropriate formal look that allows their all-natural beauty to shine. Elegant holiday colors and festive details are welcome but not required.

Cutest Stage Personality
The contestant who showcases the Cutest Stage Personality in each age group will win this award.
This optional celebrates contestants who let their unique personalities shine on stage! Whether it's a sweet smile, adorable wave, playful pose, or a little extra Christmas cheer, we love seeing contestants enjoy their special moment.

Best Hair
The contestant with the Best Hair in each age group will win this award.
This optional recognizes a clean, beautiful, and age-appropriate hairstyle that complements the contestant's overall pageant look. Festive bows, ribbons, and holiday hair accessories are welcome!

- A hairstyle that complements the outfit
- Hair that remains neat while on stage

Best Smile
The contestant with the Best Smile in each age group will win this award.
Nothing spreads Christmas cheer quite like a beautiful smile! This optional celebrates contestants who share a natural, joyful smile while enjoying their moment on stage.

- Engagement with the judges or audience
- Confidence and warmth

Directors Choice
The Director's Choice Award is personally selected by the pageant director.
This special award is presented to a contestant who truly stands out through her attitude, effort, kindness, and heart throughout the Tinsel & Tiaras Pageant.
Director's Choice is not based on outfits, appearance, or pageant scores. Instead, it celebrates the little moments that make a big impact—whether that's encouraging another contestant, showing kindness, overcoming nervousness, demonstrating personal growth, or simply spreading a little extra Christmas spirit on pageant day!
JINGLE BELL JOY *NEW
Theme: Spreading Christmas Cheer
The contestant who brings the most Jingle Bell Joy to the stage in each age group will win this award!
This fun Christmas optional celebrates pure holiday happiness! Whether it's an excited little entrance, playful movements, enthusiastic waves, or an adorable burst of Christmas excitement, we want to see contestants spreading joy and making the stage merry and bright!
Judges will look for:
- Genuine excitement and enthusiasm
- Playful, cheerful expressions
- Natural energy and movement
- A fun and festive stage presence
- A contestant who spreads happiness and Christmas cheer
SANTA'S LITTLE SHOWSTOPPER *NEW
The contestant who delivers the most memorable stage presentation in each age group will win this award!
Every Christmas pageant has those special moments that steal the show! This optional celebrates contestants who capture everyone's attention with their natural charm, confidence, personality, and unforgettable stage presence.
Whether it's a confident entrance, a picture-perfect pose, or a little extra sparkle in her presentation, we want to see what makes your contestant a true showstopper!
Judges will look for:
- A memorable entrance and overall presentation
- Natural confidence and stage presence
- Creative or expressive posing
- Smooth, comfortable movement on stage
- A contestant who leaves a lasting impression
Can a contestant win multiple optionals? Yes, you have a chance to win every optional you enter. No matter how many other optionals you may or may not have won.

This is a full color, large booklet with photos and information for each contestant that will be in the pageant on pageant day. These make amazing keepsakes and souvenirs. They usually sell out on pageant day so pre-order yours!
